General category candidates are allowed a total of 6 attempts in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Candidates must keep track of their attempts as they calculate eligibility based on the number of attempts taken in conjunction with their age limit. Once the candidates exhaust their attempts, they cannot sit for the examination again.
