Over the years, changes made to the UPSC exam format include the introduction of the Preliminary Exam as a screening test, transitioning from a conventional written test approach to an objective type. The Main Examination has also seen a shift with the introduction of the Ethics paper and the emphasis on interview evaluations. Furthermore, the number of papers in the Main Examination has been optimized to effectively assess candidates' understanding and analytical abilities. These changes aim to provide a more comprehensive evaluation of candidates.
