The Great Pyramid of Giza is located in Egypt. Specifically, it is situated on the Giza Plateau, near the city of Cairo. As one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, it is the largest and oldest of the three pyramids built as tombs for pharaohs during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom. Built around 2580–2560 BC for Pharaoh Khufu, the pyramid originally stood at 146.6 meters (481 feet) but now reaches about 138.8 meters (455 feet) due to the loss of the outer casing stones.
