The beautiful natural phenomenon that occurs in polar regions is the Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, as well as the Aurora Australis in the Southern Hemisphere. These luminous displays occur when charged particles from the sun collide with Earth’s magnetic field and atmosphere, resulting in vibrant, colorful lights that can be seen dancing across the night sky. The auroras are typically green, but can also appear in shades of pink, red, yellow, blue, and violet, depending on the type of gas involved and the altitude of the interaction. They are especially prominent in winter months when nights are longer in polar regions.
