The gas known as Laughing Gas is nitrous oxide (N₂O). It is commonly used in medical and dental settings as an anesthetic and analgesic, providing patients with pain relief and sedation during procedures. Nitrous oxide is colorless and non-flammable, and it has a slightly sweet odor. When inhaled, it can induce a sense of euphoria or uncontrollable laughter—hence the nickname "laughing gas." Besides medical applications, nitrous oxide is also used in the food industry, particularly in whipped cream dispensers, as well as in some automotive applications for boosting engine performance.
