Odysseus outsmarted the Cyclops, named Polyphemus, by using clever trickery. He introduced himself as "Nobody" and, after getting the Cyclops drunk, blinded him with a sharpened stake. When Polyphemus called for help, he told the others that "Nobody" was attacking him, which allowed Odysseus to escape with his men.
